In this particular situation, the client loved their 100-year-old home but knew that it needed extensive upgrades throughout—from the entryway all the way to the master bedroom, and everywhere in between—before it would fit their family’s needs.

Working with the clients, the design team at Orren Pickell helped identify the problem areas in the current home—for example, the dark, out-of-date, closed-off kitchen whose choppy floor plan and lack of counter and prep space made family dinners and casual entertaining a difficult endeavor—and created a welcoming, open concept chef’s kitchen filled with light. Now, the substantial center island serves multiple purposes, providing a casual seating and eating area while also giving the homeowners additional storage space and an expansive area for preparing food. Extensive crown molding, frosted glass cabinets and custom over-island lighting add luxurious touches to the kitchen area, allowing the homeowner’s personal style to shine through.
